Is Christmas Lights Better In Houston?

<img src="Houston Christmas Lights 18.png" alt="Santa flying over Christmas lights in Houston">

The saying is “Everything is bigger and better in Texas.” with Houston being the biggest city in Texas and forth in the nation you might assume when it comes to Christmas light installation Houston would be the best place to see lights but what would neighboring cities such as Pecan Grove, Pin Oaks in Katy, and The Woodlands say? Hmmm that’s a great question, when people were asked to rank holiday displays around our area the winner is The Woodlands followed by Sugar Land which offers a paid holiday display at Constellation Field and in third place was River Oaks. Today I thought we would share some of the biggest, best, and most over the top places to see displays that our city has to offer started with our first-place winner found in Richmond TX.

Richmond Christmas Lights

Pecan Grove Plantation is actually not located in Richmond but just right on the cusp. This neighborhood started their holiday tradition in the 1990s those most of the homes there were built in the 1970; s by Bruce Bellin Association. The company purchased over 1400 acres and construction began. The community is known for its large Pecan Trees which is where the name is derives from. In 2018 they added onto the neighborhood. When it comes to the homeowners inside of Pecan Grove during the Christmas season, they spare no expense for a chance to spread a little holiday joy and bragging rights to show off the winners of the best displays in the neighborhood. Some of the Christmas light installation work you can see in Richmond include has a forty-foot tree, a manager scene inside a Scooby Doo van, a colossal size elf on the shelf, gigantic TV where you can catch a glimpse of Santa movies, and lights-lights-and more Christmas lights throughout the entire neighborhood. Generally, the lines are long and slow, but you can’t help but to stare and take it all. If you want to add a little boost to your sprit this season, go to Randall’s where you will find a hayride that takes you through the entire neighborhood. with people staring. Hooks hayride has run every Christmas season since 2005. The hayride comes complete with all your favorite holiday song but if its nippy out make sure to dress warm and if your with that special someone don’t forget the mistletoe and hot chocolate while your all snuggled up to see the nicely decorated homes of Pecan Grove.

Sugar Land Holiday Light Display

While this is a pay to see light display its worth the price of admission as you will see over 3 million twinkling lights spread over the field and bleachers at Constellation Park in Sugar Land. Their Christmas light display in Sugar Land starts right before Thanksgiving on November 20th and runs until January 3rd. Adult tickets are $15.00; kids are $10.00 and seniors are $12.00 but generally, they run some type of online special. We went for Ladies Night last night and while seeing Christmas lights in Sugar Land was the hit we also participated in their Gingerbread decorating contest and my grandson went to have his picture taken with Santa. In admission there is also a carnival, vendors offering their wares and plenty of delicious foods and treats so make sure to put Holiday Lights in Sugar Land on your list.

The Woodlands Christmas Lights

The Woodlands is about 30 miles from Houston headed North and is worth the trip to see some truly spectacular Christmas light displays, some of the displays are synchronized to all your favorite holiday hits. The cost to see the lights is free, Sone of our favorites include Creek Pike in Panther Creeks HOA, Windsail Lights in Cochran’s Crossing and Alden Bridge has several homes worth checking out. If we missed your house or your favorite place to see lights let us know so we can add it to our list and for more information on all three areas check out more online by clicking here.
